Jamie Foxx is instead in talks to play, not Daddy Warbucks, but a variation of the character named Benjamin Stacks. Will Gluck is directing the project, based on a script he revised, originally written by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna.As we previously noted, in the original Annie story, Daddy Warbucks is supposed to be an older gentleman; someone in his 50s, who also happens to be filthy rich, and is bald.Obviously the film’s producers are taking some creative liberties with the story, and aren’t married to the source material, starting with the character’s name change. Although we weren’t expecting the Daddy Warbucks character would be played by a black actor, so this is a bit of a surprise.MOREAlright. Got two great actors. Hope that script nice and tight!
